Nottingham’s hugely successful Castle Rock Brewery has announced an exciting new collaboration with their friends at the Nottingham Shakespeare Company - Nottingham ShakesBeer!

Since its conception in 2019, Nottingham Shakespeare Company has been bringing original practice Shakespeare performances to audiences across the East Midlands. Started by Artistic Director Michelle-Louise Wright, the company’s aim has always been to make Shakespeare’s work accessible to all, with inclusive and diverse casts, exciting productions, and free and ‘pay what you can’ performances.

Throughout the last five years, one of NSC’s most faithful supporters has been Castle Rock - the award winning Nottinghamshire brewery, that now boasts an impressive 20 pubs across the country. Giving the grassroots theatre group free use of its rehearsal and performance spaces, Castle Rock and NSC have always been firm friends.

Nottingham ShakesBeer - New Pint in the Spotlight

To celebrate their years-long partnership, Castle Rock and Nottingham Shakespeare Company are thrilled to announce the launch of their new pint - Nottingham ShakesBeer. “We’re aiming for something with a powerful hop hit, and a long afterglow - just like one of our shows!” says Artistic Director, Wright.

Castle Rock and NSC will be launching the new beer on Wednesday 7th August at Nottingham’s Roundhouse at 5:30pm, followed by Henry V’s opening night at 7pm at the same venue. As with all of NSC’s summer productions, the performance is free to attend and open to all!

The NSC team were onsite for brew day, helping to weigh out hops and learning all about the process of making real ale. The brewery has committed to brewing 3 casks of the bardic beer, available to try in Castle Rock’s Embankment and Vat & Fiddle pubs.

Henry V Storms the East Midlands!

Nottingham Shakespeare Company’s summer production of Henry V is touring around the East Midlands through 7th - 17th August. As well as bringing their whirlwind production to

venues across Nottingham, the company will also be travelling to Leicester and Castle Donington, following a successful out-of-county debut at Leicester Cathedral with Romeo and Juliet. Don’t miss a summer of free open air theatre!
