Following the installation of a Tiger Moth sculpture at The Insurance Partnership as part of Amy Johnson Festival, the company hopes to encourage local people to pursue their dreams and ambitions as Amy did with her lone flight around the world.

As an established local business, it is very important for us to support community initiatives. As soon as we heard about A Moth for Amy and the festival, we knew we had to be a part of it, especially as our head office is in a prominent position on Beverley Road. It’s a great location for passers-by to see one of the moth sculptures.

The recent events Place des Anges and Sea of Hull have injected positivity into the city, coming at a great time for the Amy Johnson Festival. It just goes to show the positive effect of culture. This has also inspired us – we want our clients and contacts to think big.

Amy Johnson CBE was one of the most inspiring women of the twentieth century. We hope that showing our support will highlight her achievements, encouraging local people to challenge themselves and pursue their dreams.

A Moth for Amy is a mass engagement public art project based on sculptures created by local sculptor, Saffron Waghorn. The Tiger Moth design was specifically chosen by Hull City supporters at The Insurance Partnership, designed by Jo Cruickshanks, who studied at Hull School of Art and Design in the 1980s and now lives in Australia, and painted by Saffron herself.

59 moths will remain on display until 2017 when the UK City of Culture celebrations will be well underway.

It is fantastic to see the positive response from the region’s business community, as well as from health, education and social groups who have already sponsored a moth.

The popularity of the Moth for Amy project is a great indicator of how well-received major art schemes are in Hull, so we encourage people to keep enjoying the moth trail and sharing their wonderful photos.
