Secret Garden set to ex-seed expectations: The Drill launches its city-centre oasis this summer
The Drill’s Secret Garden will host inclusive outdoor entertainment and a relaxing space for city-centre visitors
The recently rebranded Lincoln Drill Hall, now known as The Drill, has cultivated a “Secret Garden” to create an inner-city oasis in the heart of Lincoln. The attraction will host outdoor entertainment and provide a space to unwind before and after gigs at the renowned arts and entertainment venue.
To celebrate the launch of the garden, a programme of pop-up events will be on offer from Friday 5th August until Sunday 21st August, starting with MDCR 22, featuring the Absolute Stone Roses, Headshrinker (an Oasis tribute band) and an exclusive DJ set from Bez of the Happy Mondays.
The garden will also be serving fine food and drink from Lincoln’s newest bar and restaurant, the Limelight, which recently opened its doors at The Drill on 6th June.
The programme of events will include an open mic night, live music and DJs, MDCR 22 and multiple family events such as crafting, storytelling and theatre.
To round off a jam-packed schedule, the venue will be hosting ‘Secret Sundae’, an all-day acoustic event on Sunday 21st August. This will feature The Curiosity Band, GL Shelley, Dean Foxx and Sarah Hughes, and many more.
Opening hours for the garden are Tuesday & Wednesday from 8:30am till 4pm, and Thursday to Saturday from 8:30am till 11pm.

Lee Byrne, Entertainments Manager at The Drill, said:
“We’re really excited to be launching the Secret Garden this August – it’s a peaceful, relaxing space – perfect for warm summer evenings.”
“The packed programme of events will provide great entertainment, and there’s definitely something for all ages to enjoy.”
“Alongside the Secret Garden, we also have the Limelight, which has proved very popular with the public so far. My personal favourites include the loaded fries and delicious flatbreads.”
“We’ve also got our ‘kids eat for free’ offer on throughout this month, so it’s a brilliant place to bring children for an affordable day trip during the summer holidays.”
Following a successful launch, Limelight is now serving early morning breakfasts as well as light bites throughout the day. There is also an array of drinks available for customers to choose from, and a specially selected Stokes’ coffee blend for caffeine lovers.
Bookings in advance for the Limelight are advised for busy times; email limelight@lincolndrill.co.uk to secure a table.
