Local community groups and residents are invited to help shape the future of Goole Fields Wind Farms Community Fund

Nearly £1 million has been made available by the RWE Goole Fields Wind Farms Community Fund supporting around 200 different and exciting community projects across Goole and the surrounding area.

These projects, large and small, range from improving community amenities and sports facilities to enhancing community services and activities. Awards have been made across the fund’s area of benefit (the Wards of Goole North, Goole South, Snaith, Airmyn, Rawcliffe and Marshland plus the Parishes of Kilpin, Laxton, Blacktoft).

An independent fund panel, made up of local volunteers, meets regularly to consider applications. The wind farm owners, RWE, contribute an annual donation of over £250,000 and the fund is facilitated by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Whilst now well established in the area, the fund is interested to learn if there is more it can do to support local community groups across the area of benefit.

To this end it is inviting members of community groups and residents to complete a short survey. The fund wants to hear from as many local people as possible – whether you have received funding or not, whether you are familiar with the fund or not.

To start the survey please go to: https://tinyurl.com/goole-fund-feedback

The survey will be open until Friday, 24 February 2023.

The feedback from this survey will be used to help shape the future of the fund with the aim of maximising the benefit it brings to the local area.

Meanwhile, the main fund is open to receive applications all year round. Similarly, applications for up to £2,500 in value can be made at any time to the easy-to-apply for “Quick Fix” small grants fund.

Councillor Jane Evison, portfolio holder for economic growth, investment and tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Wind farm funding plays a crucial role for a number of community services and projects so I would very much recommend residents in Goole and surrounding areas take part in the survey and read all the information provided on the website which states all the support that is available.”
