Residents of Hull and the East Riding looking for a new career role which ticks all the boxes are invited to a recruitment event to help to fill thousands of jobs with Amazon.

The multi-national technology giant will open its new fulfilment centre at Melton West Business Park later this year.

Hull City Council’s Employment Hub has teamed up with East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Amazon to host a recruitment drive next month where up to 2,000 vacancies could be filled.

The exclusive event will take place from 10am to 2pm in Hull Central Library on Albion Street on Tuesday 15 July.

Staff from the Employment Hub, as well as representatives from Amazon, will be on hand for face-to-face discussions on warehouse operative roles initially available and how career paths can be developed with the company.

Those looking to return to employment, begin their careers or simply looking for a change of occupation are all welcome, including care leavers and former military personnel.

Those wishing to attend are asked to declare an expression of interest to allow organisers to be aware of estimated attendees.

You can do this by calling Hull City Council’s Employment Hub on 01482 616623 or email employmenthub@hullcc.gov.uk.

Posters highlighting the event are on display in the hub, Hull Central Library and at community areas within Hull.

Cllr Paul Drake-Davis, portfolio holder for economic renewal, housing and organisational development at the council, said: “Amazon’s investment demonstrates the confidence that global companies have in the region’s economy.

“It’s a real shot in the arm for the area’s employment opportunities and, with thousands of vacancies available, it’s a fantastic opportunity for so many.

“Previous recruitment events hosted by the Employment Hub have been hugely successful and no doubt the reason Amazon chose to partner with the team.”
