Around 250 school pupils are anticipated to attend the conference aimed at inspiring the next generation in shaping Humber’s powerful future. Several organisations have pledged their support, with more encouraged to take part in the event which will empower young people to share their ideas, explore opportunities, and take their place in Humber’s story.
During the event, pupils will hear from inspiring individuals making a real impact across Humber and participate in mini workshops that showcase the region’s career opportunities. They’ll also be introduced to Humber’s Place Brand narrative and gain an understanding of the region’s strengths and unique values.
Dr Diana Taylor, Managing Director at Future Humber, said: “The Young Humber Ambassadors conference puts the brilliant young minds of Humber at the heart of shaping our future. It’s a chance for businesses to connect directly with Humber’s next generation of skills and talent and inspire pride in our place. Pupils will leave with new aspirations, a clear understanding of Humber’s Place Brand, and the values that make our region Real, Remarkable, Revolutionary, and Resourceful.”
The event is the brainchild of Humber Place Brand Ambassadors Rose James, CEO of Hull and East Yorkshire Children's University, and Stephen Logan, Principal of Healing Academy. Both attended Humber’s Place Brand Ambassador network launch, organised by Future Humber earlier this year and felt that Humber’s young generation would bring fantastic ideas to shaping the future of their region if given a seat at the table.
Rose James, CEO, Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University, said: “This event is a chance for businesses and organisations to showcase the range of opportunities available to children across Humber. The event will raise children’s aspirations for their future, giving them every reason to be proud of the opportunities on their doorstep. We hope the children leave the event feeling proud of their region and inspired to use their voices to make positive change for the area’s future.”
Stephen Logan, Principal, Healing Academy, said: "The Young Humber Ambassadors event celebrates the energy, creativity and ideas of the region’s next generation. As Young Ambassadors, they are the voice of a region that is resourceful in spirit, revolutionary in thinking, real in its roots, and remarkable in its ambition. This event will enable the children to learn about and live their region’s brand values, shaping the future with pride, purpose, and possibility. Healing Academy and Harbour Learning Trust are proud to support this event in partnership with Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University and we are excited to see what the children come up with.”
