Industry leading experts in resource & energy efficiency offer free workshop to architects in the Greater Lincolnshire Area

Are you an architect that wants to offer the latest technology and advice to your clients?

Smart Energy, a project led by North East Lincolnshire Council, is offering a free energy focused workshop to architects located in the Greater Lincolnshire area.

The day will be run by the University of Applied Sciences Trier’s Institut fur angewandtes Stroffstrommanagement (IfaS), industry leading experts in resource and energy efficiency, who have worked with multi-national companies such as Continental, Procter and Gamble, Evonik to reduce their energy use.

The cost of running a building can be extremely expensive, but if you could design a building with energy efficiency in mind you could save your client money in the long run. At the workshop IfaS will equip you with the latest knowledge on solar PV and thermal, renewable energy for heating purposes, high efficiency lighting, low embodied energy / ecological insulation materials, and moving outdoors; nature conservation aspects around the building.

Richard Tibenham, Company Director at Greenlite Energy Assessors, will also be talking at the event to share his knowledge on building analysis; including energy and thermo dynamic assessment.

Richard said that:

With recent declarations of ‘climate emergency’, more stringent planning policy surrounding energy efficiency matters would appear likely. Whilst low carbon energy generation can offer part of the solution, it is becoming increasingly apparent that energy demand reduction measures will also need to feature more prominently. This workshop will equip architects, planners and developers with a fundamental understanding of how thermally comfortable buildings with low energy demands can be achieved in practice, as we work towards a zero carbon economy.”

Helen Norris, Programme Manager at Smart Energy Greater Lincolnshire, said that:

“The workshop will be incredibly beneficial to architects, as it will get them to strategically look at infrastructure that not only looks good but in the long run gives client’s massive savings on their energy bills”

“Our project not only supports business with advice, also we offer grants and funding to help businesses cover the cost towards an energy saving project”

The Smart Energy project offers grants to help cover up to 38% of the cost of an energy saving project to small to medium enterprises within the Greater Lincolnshire area. There is also funding available for smaller projects, in which eligible companies are entitled to a free £500 gift and follow up visit for attending an energy saving workshop.

Smart Energy Greater Lincolnshire is a £9.2m project that has been partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund to help support business to save energy.

The workshop will be held at the Fairfield Enterprise Centre in Louth, on the 11th November, 2019.
