Lincolnshire Action Trust’s Christmas Wishes campaign is returning for 2022 and the charity is asking for donations or contributions towards gifts for children who are affected by a loved one’s drug or alcohol use.
LAT has provided support, guidance, and encouragement for hundreds of young people in Lincolnshire aged five to 18 years through its Young Oasis Project.
“For the children we support, Christmas can be a particularly challenging time of year” said Kim Thompson, Senior Practitioner at Young Oasis.
“We’re hoping that with the generous support from the local community, we’ll be able to offer them a brighter Christmas”
The team at LAT is planning to give each child at least one present they can enjoy at Christmas but is reliant on donations to do so.
“When we have run the campaign in previous years, I’ve seen the children’s faces light up when we give them their presents; it’s truly magical and can make Christmas memorable for someone who is really deserving,” said Kim.
“We are changing the way gifting is going to work this year; we are asking for donations of money, selection boxes or gift cards from high street stores. This will allow us to choose the perfect gift for each individual child.”
In addition, donations of cinema and pantomime tickets are welcomed to allow families to spend time together. Monetary donations can be made through the LAT JustGiving page, where people can also leave a festive message. You can find a list of gift ideas for this year’s campaign on the LAT website.
Kim added:
“We’ve been so impressed by the response to this campaign in previous years and are always really grateful for anything people can donate.”

Anyone interested in donating can contact Lincolnshire Action Trust on 01522 806611 or email hello@latcharity.org.uk.
The team asks that donations be provided by Monday 28th November so that volunteers and staff have enough time to purchase and prepare gifts for distribution to the children.
