Harrison College is a new independent business and enterprise college based in Doncaster for young people with high functioning autism. Opened in September, Harrison College has been opened to support young people and their families in developing employability skills so that they can achieve their potential and secure employment.

Harrison College has a clear vision;

“A specialist post-16 institution providing a challenging, future focussed provision.” Gemma Peebles, Principal said that “This type of unique provision has been missing in Doncaster’s education landscape and we are looking forward to supporting many young people, often those that have disengaged with education or have had a poor previous experience”.

To ensure that the young people are supported in a variety of ways Harrison College run an enrichment programme that focusses on the physical and mental health and well being. Harrison College has received a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund to support the running of this programme and last week Rt Hon Dame Rosie Winterton MP visited the college to have a look around and present the cheque to the Principal, Gemma Peebles and Director, Tony Hirst.

“I was very pleased to visit Harrison College and to congratulate them on receiving £9,798 from the National Lottery Community Fund for the enrichment programme focussing on the health and wellbeing of children with autism.”
