The last remaining vacant units at Onyx Retail Park have been snapped up by a barber and a hot tubs company, increasing the exciting diversity of retailers now on site at the successful shopping and eating destination in South Yorkshire.
The Groom Room barber and Oasis Hot Tubs and Spas showroom have signed up to their new premises meaning the retail park is at full capacity, much to the delight of promoter Andrew Miller, Chartered Surveyors of Sheffield, who said: “Most of the businesses at Onyx have taken long lets which shows the confidence they have in the site being ideally placed for retailers to prosper.”
Built by Onward Holdings Ltd on the former Manvers colliery at Wath-Upon-Deane, Groom Room founder Jamie Winter and Oasis owners Peter and Lisa Summers are all thrilled at the business opportunities offered by this regenerated and bustling site.
In addition to The Groom Room, Oasis Hot Tubs and Spas and pampering provider Beauty at Heart there is a range of eateries at the retail park, such as Griffin Grill, a commercial and training restaurant offering a traditional menu created and served by Dearne Valley College’s talented students and apprentices, overseen by a team of industry experienced chefs.
Fully-licensed Griffin Grill is joined in the eatery stakes by the aptly-named Onyx Fish Bar, Thai Garden Café, Coffee St, Yo Yo Noodle, Domino’s Pizza and Subway, all offering a plethora of delectable dishes to cater for almost any taste.
Shoppers really are spoilt for choice whether they are wanting beauty services or to satisfy their appetite. The retail shopping possibilities include leading convenience store SPAR and award-winning Greggs the Baker. E-cigarette retailer VapeHQ and renowned children’s charity Barnardos complete the current line-up on the retail park – making the Onyx site a full experience destination.
Part of the retail park’s success is attributed to the high level of passing traffic comprising an impressive 18,000 vehicles per day. Around 150 new jobs have already been created on site, which is located close to a popular RSPB Nature Reserve.
Suitable for a cross-section of businesses, the Onyx Retail Park comprises 17,500sqft of retail space and holds planning consent for A1 (retail), A2 (financial) and A3 (food). The whole site is very secure with CCTV monitoring.
Adjacent to 1,100 homes, the Onyx Retail Park is surrounded by industrial development which has resulted in the site providing many of the services needed by householders and firms in the surrounding area without the need often for even a car journey.
Another big attraction is the 90,000 visitors per year to the 250 acres Old Moor RSPB Nature Reserve and Wetlands and the Manvers Lake. The adjacent park and lake, together with the award-winning Waterfront Golf Course and not forgetting the popular Trans Pennine trail, makes Onyx an ideal place to shop, eat and have a personal revamp
