Onward Development Brief Could Lead To New Homes

A former quarry site in Scunthorpe is set to be submitted for new homes by Onward Holdings Ltd which is proposing a multi million-pound building project that will provide a shot in the arm to the local economy as well as boost the area’s housing stock.

If the application to be submitted is approved by North Lincolnshire Council it is anticipated that hundreds of new homes could be built on the 22-acre brownfield site located off Glebe Road, Scunthorpe.

If planning permission is granted Onward Holdings, renowned for developing and operating warehousing and industrial unitswill belooking to appoint a housebuilder for approximately several hundred new properties on the land that will help regenerate the area.

The company is already a stakeholder in the local economy, owning nearby Glebe Park, a retail development which is occupied by a variety of national retailers including Bathstore, Farmfoods and Johnstone’s Decorating Centre. It also has long term tenants in properties on Warren and Normanby Roads.

Providing reclaimed land for housing is in keeping with Onward Holdings’ philosophy of reducing, where possible, the environmental impact of development – the business has turned a former coal mine at Wath-upon-Dearne near Barnsley into the successful Onyx Retail Park.

Neil Storey, Onward Holdings director, said: “On a national scale there is a recognised shortage of housing. When submitted and if approved by North Lincolnshire Council it will lead to much-needed new homes for the region. We’ll be looking for expressions of interest from housebuilders when we can progress a planning application to move the project forward and create an economic buzz for the area.”

Onward Holdings also specialises in operating highly competitively-priced industrial warehousing in the North of England, offering a range of logistics options to suit most budgets, together with additional value-added warehouse services – different facilities that can help companies gain a vital foothold in the northern supply chain.

Promotion of the Glebe land site is handled by Andrew Miller Chartered Surveyors of Sheffield. For further information please contact Andrew on 0114 236 2340.
