John Moore Returns To Security Industry To Support Expansion Drive

Security systems entrepreneur John Moore, left, has returned to the industry to join former colleagues Mark Lloyd, centre, and Jerry Steventon in driving forward the growth of BeeSafe Fire & Security.

Security systems entrepreneur John Moore has returned to the industry to join former colleagues in leading the expansion of a growing regional player.

Mr Moore has joined Mark Lloyd and Jerry Steventon as a Director of BeeSafe Fire & Security, which serves commercial and residential customers across Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire.

Mr Moore founded his self-named security business in Hull in 1987 when his job as a District Manager with Group 4 (now G4S) was made redundant. Over the following three decades he grew the business from scratch into one of the best known and most successful fire safety and security solutions providers in the North of England.

The business had branches in Hull, Cleethorpes, Brigg, Lincoln, Doncaster, Newark and Derby, a staff of 80 and 15,000 customers across commercial and residential markets.

Mr Moore sold the business to a global fire safety and security solutions company in 2016 and is now free to return to the industry under the terms of that deal.

At BeeSafe Fire & Security he is working with two key former colleagues to deliver an ambitious growth strategy for the company.

Mr Lloyd and Mr Steventon were part of Mr Moore’s management team for 22 years and 15 years respectively. Mr Lloyd was Regional Manager for Lincolnshire while Mr Steventon was Group Sales Surveyor.

The pair bought BeeSafe a year ago and have reorganised and refocused the business, driving 50% growth in turnover in their first year at the helm.

They have also established an East Yorkshire base at the Home Farm business park in Melton, to complement BeeSafe’s existing offices at Europarc in Grimsby. The company has grown to 10 staff, with all but two formerly employed by Mr Moore.

BeeSafe’s Directors are targeting growth across Hull, East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, by offering the high-quality, professional and trusted service for which Mr Moore’s company was renowned.

BeeSafe provides integrated fire and electronic security systems, including intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, emergency lighting and fire detection. The company offers complete design, installation, maintenance, monitoring and service solutions, which adhere strictly to leading industry standards, with a five-year “no quibble” guarantee against any faults.

Mr Moore said: “By getting involved I want to lend Mark and Jerry the benefit of my experience and help the business to grow.

“There is a significant opportunity to increase awareness of BeeSafe, especially on the north bank of the Humber, to support our expansion. I know from experience the potential in this area for a high-quality, professional security company is immense.

“We’re aiming to build on the quality business principles that my business was known for. Customers used to come to us with their problems and we took them off their hands.

“We had a very good reputation with customers. They knew they could trust us and rely on us.”

Mr Lloyd said: “It’s great to be working with John again. He has so much experience and is so passionate about the business.

“Back then, customers chose us because of the company’s reputation. Now that we’re back, we see an opportunity to fill the void for a trusted and respected company with management, engineers and other staff from a company that was highly successful.”

Mr Steventon said: “John joining the company will give our customers even greater confidence – his name and reputation counts for so much.

“We’re excited to be back together and by the opportunities we see to grow the business and our customer base in both the commercial and residential markets.”

The Directors see automatic fire detection systems as a major growth opportunity for the business. BeeSafe has significant expertise in this field and strong market demand is being driven by increasing regulation and inspection regimes.

Mr Steventon added: “For a household or a business, fire can be absolutely devastating, so it’s vital to protect your premises and people against damage, loss and danger. You can’t leave that to chance.

“Customers are increasingly aware of the need to make sure they have systems in place that are designed, installed, maintained and serviced to leading industry standards by a company they can trust totally.”
