Team Humber Marine Alliance’s annual Offshore Wind Connections conference is to take place in Hull for the first time.

The conference, including an exhibition and networking, has developed over the last five years into one of the main events on the offshore renewables calendar, attracting front-line speakers and delegates from the UK, Europe and the United States.

OWC2018 will hear from industry leaders and governmental bodies on the progress of current projects and future opportunities at the city’s DoubleTree by Hilton hotel on April 25 and 26.

It will be relevant to all businesses and organisations with a stake in the offshore wind industry, which has become a massive employer, directly and indirectly,” said Mark O’Reilly, Team Humber chairman and CEO.

The conference will reflect the exponential growth in offshore wind since we held the first OWC on the Humber south bank; how firms like Siemens and Ørsted have put the region at the heart of the industry and the course it is likely to take as we approach the 2020s.

Mr O’Reilly added:

We’ve had three successful years at Bridlington and coming to Hull is a natural step, especially considering the contribution renewables is making to the city’s revival.

Helen Symonds, director of sales and marketing at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, said:

It is great that the offshore wind industry is booming and regularly bringing visitors to the Humber region.

Our large, adaptable space is ideal for major events and we are looking forward to helping Team Humber make OWC2018 a success.

The names of speakers, sponsors and booking details are to be announced.
