Grimsby’s landmark Corporation Road Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic for essential repairs for five weeks from Monday 12 June.
The section of Corporation Road affected by the full road closure will be between the mini-roundabout at the entrance to Alexandra Retail Park and the junction with Victoria Street.
Advance warning signs will be put up and diversions in place. Businesses in the area have been informed.
Pedestrians and cyclists will generally be able to cross the bridge but there might be times when this is not possible.
The maintenance includes repairs to the lifting mechanism, bridge deck and footpaths. The whole structure has undergone a full inspection and the repairs identified will be carried out.
These essential repairs are important to ensure the long-term structural integrity of the listed bridge.
North East Lincolnshire Council and its partner Engie would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during the works.
