Yorkshire law firm continues programme of excellence with creation of key new post

Leading corporate law firm Shulmans LLP has appointed Kirsteen McFadzean to its newly-created Head of Business Development role.

Leading corporate law firm Shulmans LLP has appointed Kirsteen McFadzean to its newly-created Head of Business Development role.

McFadzean has a wealth of experience and expertise in business growth, specifically in the legal market, having held a number of senior business development positions with firms such as Blacks Solicitors LLP, Eversheds and Addleshaw Goddard.

During her career she has been responsible for setting business development strategies and delivering improved business performance, developing key client accounts and improving client satisfaction.

She said:

My experience in law firm business development means I am able to advise Shulmans on how to maximise its potential. I am well-versed in assessing the strengths of a law firm and offering strategic advice, as well as executing this on a practical level through a variety of channels. I’m happy to roll up my sleeves and get involved in the operational side of things, including CRM, planning, and designing and managing a programme of marketing activities.

I believe business development is the backbone of a firm. It ensures that everyone is united under one brand, which helps clients understand the firm’s vision and values, and differentiates it from its competitors.

The firm recently reported, for the sixth year in a row, double digit growth, taking it above the £12m turnover mark. In the last 12 months the firm has attracted work from a wealth of new clients, including working with AIM-listed 21st Century Technology plc, bus and coach manufacturers Optare and online betting giant Betfred. The appointment earlier this year of Mel Bulmer, head of Operational Excellence, was described as a clear reflection of the firm’s determination to provide excellent client service, and the creation of McFadzean’s business development role further underlines this.

Shulmans’ managing partner Tim Halstead said:

Our year-on-year strong financial performance and entirely organic growth is a direct result of our very particular culture of offering better services to more clients We’re delighted to welcome Kirsteen to the firm, an appointment that demonstrates our commitment to identifying and encouraging the best talent to join us. She will play an important role in further cementing our continued growth plans and developing our leading position in the region and further afield.

McFadzean added:

Shulmans is in a very strong position, as it enjoys rewarding, reciprocal relationships with its clients, and it is not about to rest on its laurels. The opportunity now is to build on this solid foundation, and to provide excellent service for local, national and international clients. I am very pleased to be joining the firm at such an exciting stage in its development.
