Hull York Medical School features in ‘Doctors of the Future’ Royal Society of Medicine and ITN Productions

Students and staff from the Hull York Medical School (HYMS) feature in an ITN Productions news-style programme examining how transformations in medical education, research and new technologies are helping to shape the healthcare of tomorrow.

HYMS was approached by ITN Productions earlier in the year to participate in the in-depth online programme titled Doctors of the Future.

The programme features HYMS as a champion of medical education, training doctors in clinical and communication skills to deliver high quality patient-centred care in all contemporary healthcare settings.

It also highlights the importance of training students in a primary care setting; HYMS students are amongst those most likely in the UK to choose general practice as a specialism after graduation.

The programme premiered at The Royal Society of Medicine’s 12th Medical Innovations Summit at the weekend.

Introduced by national newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky, it features key industry interviews and news-style reports, as well as interviews with some of the leading organisations in the sector.

The HYMS film features a problem based learning session, communications masterclass and interviews with course leaders and students.

Dean of HYMS, Professor Trevor Sheldon said:

HYMS is delighted to collaborate with The Royal Society of Medicine and ITN Productions on this exciting project.

It has been an excellent opportunity to share the inclusive and innovative programme we have developed at HYMS with an audience of healthcare professionals and the general public.
