Doncaster Sheffield Airport has announced an addition to its senior team with the appointment of operations expert Rob Cooke.
Rob joins the expanding team at a time when the airport is currently one of the fastest growing airports in the UK and has recently opened the Great Yorkshire Way link road from the M18 motorway to Parrots Corner, reducing journey times to the airport from across the Sheffield City Region.
He brings with him experience from Birmingham and Stansted Airports as he returns to Doncaster Sheffield Airport, where his aviation career began.
I am delighted to be returning to Doncaster Sheffield Airport as Operations Director. The airport is a fantastic asset for the people of Yorkshire and it is great to see the massive leaps forward that have been made in terms of improved infrastructure with the new road and growth in the airlines we work with and the destinations we fly to.
I am looking forward to working with the team in Doncaster and leading the operations at this time of growth.
The airport has recently started flights to eight new routes to, Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, Faro, Jersey, Newquay, Alicante and Malaga with Flybe and with Dusseldorf to start later in the year is forecast to grow to 1.35m passengers in 2016 up from 900,000 in 2015.
Steve Gill, managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said:
