Up to 13 new jobs are expected to be created following the acquisition of an existing local retail business by the Grimsby-based Ramsden Group.
The Group’s Directors have announced the purchase of the Today’s Convenience Store at Fiveways and the adjoining shop which formerly traded as a chemist. The company plans to redevelop the site, combining both units, to create a 3,000 square feet convenience store.
The Group is one of Grimsby’s oldest established and largest employers, with a workforce of around 200. The new jobs will include part time and full time positions.
A spokesman said the intention was for the new unit to trade under the banner of Todays Extra and will hopefully include a Post Office relocated from the Ramsden Superstore in Cleethorpe Road if a public consultation programme is successful. It will continue to be supplied by Dee Bee, the group’s cash and carry arm, which has traded successful in Grimsby for more than 50 years.
