Businesses looking to grow during 2016 are being invited to a conference about franchising next month.

The Franchise Conference East Midlands on 16th October at The Nottingham Belfry hotel will feature talks on a range of topics from intellectual property to employment law.

Successful franchisors including Eric Ho of YoYo Noodle bars, which has seven franchises across the UK, will also be sharing their experiences.

According to a survey by NatWest, the overall contribution of franchising to the UK economy is £13.7 billion. Although this equates to just under 1% of GDP, this contribution has grown by 20% over the past five years, while the overall economy has shrunk 2.5% over the same period.

Julie Taylor, MD of Gti Consultancy, which is organising the event, said franchising is an extremely viable way of starting or growing a business:

Buying a franchise gives a potential new business owner the tools and a proven commercial model to help you get off the ground with confidence.

Conversely, turning your business into a franchise – by allowing other people to use your branding and ideas in return for payment – is a fantastic route to sales growth.

The conference is an excellent way to learn more about this burgeoning sector and why it has proven so successful even during the economic downturn when other sectors were shrinking.

During the conference delegates will also have the opportunity to network with other business people and find out more about Gti Consultancy’s Franchise Development Programme.

Aimed at supporting budding franchisors through the process of designing and developing their business from the initial stages through to launching it into the marketplace, the programme consists of a series of workshops and one-to-one support.

Standard tickets to the conference on 16th October at The Nottingham Belfry between 8.30am and 2.15pm cost £50 plus VAT, or £30 if you book before 2nd October. VIP tickets are also available for £225 or £150 if booked before 18th September.
