One of the largest collections of cars from famous movies will be coming to Magna as part of a cult action movie and sci-fi event in September.
Optimus Prime from Transformers, KITT from Knight Rider and cars from the Batman, Fast and Furious and Jurassic Park franchises will be amongst the star attractions at this year’s Ultra Con on Sunday 13 September.
Ultra Con is a major event on the convention calendar for comic, action movie and sci-fi fans and collectors.
As well as the cars, it will feature a parade of iconic super heroes, villains and sci-fi characters; life-size movie sets from Star Wars, Dr Who and Iron Man and other cult movie props. There will also be a vendors’ arena selling film and TV memorabilia and celebrity guest stars from the world of sci-fi.
Rob Ormondroyd, Ultra Con organiser, said:
We have an unbelievable number of movie cars, sets and props at our event this year from a range of iconic films and shows. Magna will be a great place to display them all and ultimately make for a great day.
We’re different from other conventions in that we create an immersive sci-fi environment with props, movie sets and iconic cars that feature in our favourite films.
This makes Ultra Con an unmissable event. It offers a cinematic experience for all the family, cosplayers, comic fans and collectors alike and we can’t wait for this year’s event as it’s going to bigger and better than ever.
Magna is becoming an increasingly popular venue for large-scale conventions.
Dan Tupling, marketing co-ordinator at Magna, said:
It’s great to have another convention added to our armoury following on from the success of previous cult events.
We’re really making a name for ourselves as a great venue to hold conventions, and they carry a great atmosphere so we’re always excited when they come to town.
Ultra Con is priced at £8 for adults and £4 for children under 12. Children under the age of four enter for free. Tickets for the event can be purchased at www.skiddle.com/whats-on/Rotherham/Magna-Science-And-Adventure-Park/Ultra-Con/12338056/.
Magna, which is housed in the former Templeborough steel works, has venue space that can cater for between 5 and 5,000 people. In the last year it has hosted everything from dance events to business conferences.
As well as being a corporate venue, Magna is also an award-winning visitor attraction with more than 100 hands-on exhibits designed to explore the four elements of air, water, earth and fire, and it hosts regular school-trips.
