Hull’s premier music, film, restaurant and events venue, Kardomah 94 will be playing host to self-taught artist, Joanna Blackburn throughout August.
Joanna’s exhibition is one of a series and will follow East Yorkshire artist Gary Saunt’s showcase which has been running throughout July.
Fascinated by different light conditions and the translucent quality of water colour enables her to explore this in her work- although Joanna makes some preliminary sketches onsite, she uses her own photographs to capture the light of the moment as this can change so quickly.
North Lincolnshire artist Joanna said:
’I’m looking forward to the exciting opportunity of exhibiting my work in Kardomah94.
My current work focuses on skies and seascapes from the gathering of storm clouds and the many colourful phases of a sunset to the crashing of waves. I long to capture their atmosphere and energy in paint.’
Whilst the majority of Joanna’s painting are landscape or seascapes she also uses birds, boats, flowers, dogs and other animals or even abstracts as inspiration – Joanna’s work has included exhibitions at galleries in England and Scotland and has sold internationally.
Joanna’s exhibition will run from Saturday 1st August for exactly one month, and entry will be free of charge. Whilst you’re visiting Kardomah94 why not try our signature pizzas, The Hullawiian and The Hallumi Yorkshire.
