A £500,000 refurbishment project is underway at the Grimsby headquarters of well-known business, the Ramsden Group.
The investment, the company’s largest single maintenance project in the past five years, is part of what managing director Nick Ramsden called a ‘corporate keep fit’ programme to ensure the company maintains a sharp competitive edge in the UK retailing and wholesaling sector.
Work on the improvements to the headquarters in Adam Smith Street has just begun and is likely to be completed in August. It will include a complete refurbishment of the office space and a section of new roof.
Nick Ramsden said:
The headquarters building is somewhat of a rabbit warren but once completed the new office centre will accommodate the accounts, purchasing and sales personnel from all the Ramsden Group companies.
A mezzanine floor, which has been mostly used for storage, will be converted into a new office suite for around 40 people, but there will also be new areas for our buying, sales and accounts teams. We will be installing LED lighting to make the atmosphere better for our staff and to reduce our carbon footprint.
The Group last year announced plans to re-develop the Ramsden Superstore site in Cleethorpe Road, Grimsby, to create a new local centre for retail space, a number of leisure units and parking for around 200 cars.
The plans have been widely welcomed by local residents and shoppers and could lead to the creation of scores of new jobs as well as provide much-needed regeneration for this part of the town.
In the meantime, it’s business as usual. So we have to make sure our head office operation remains well equipped, well staffed and well set to meet the demands of our customers.
