Top business coaches to offer free mentoring to new businesses

An innovative mentoring scheme will be on offer for the first time at Yorkshire Business Market this year.

A team of business mentors will be offering one-to-one sessions to support people who have launched a new business in the last year, or are planning to do so soon.

The programme is the latest announcement in the Chamber’s drive to support start-up businesses at Yorkshire Business Market, which takes place at Pavilions of Harrogate on Monday, April 27. They have already introduced a new Start-Up Zone, where new businesses in their first year of trading can book a micro-stand for a significantly reduced cost compared to the standard prices.

Exhibitors in the Start-Up Zone will be able to book the free mentoring sessions first, before they are open to Yorkshire Business Market visitors.

Brian Dunsby, the Chief Executive of Harrogate Chamber of Trade and Commerce which organises the event, said:

“New businesses make a significant difference to the Yorkshire economy and we are keen to do all we can to support them and ensure they are successful.

Business mentoring can be a very effective way of helping new business owners to achieve as much as possible in their first months and years. By combining the mentoring sessions with our new Start-Up Zone stands, we are offering new businesses the chance to make significant steps forward in just one day, by meeting hundreds of business owners and getting tailor-made advice from expert mentors.

These new mentoring sessions are likely to prove extremely popular, so we would encourage any new businesses interested in booking a place to get in touch as soon as possible.

The mentoring sessions will be open to any businesses booking a Start-Up Stand at the event by Friday, April 10. After that, any remaining places will be offered to non-exhibitors on a first come, first served basis.

The programme includes experienced business mentors Julian Horrocks, Peter Watson, Carl Schumacher, and Chamber Vice-President Steve Pepper.

Meanwhile, more than two-thirds of the available exhibition space at YBM has now been booked, with enquiries still coming in daily. The medium-sized stands have now sold out, but other options are still available.
