Electrical and instrumentation contractor, East Midlands Instrument (EMI) Company has recently appointed Paul Lawrence as their new Business Development Manager.


Founded in 1966 employing over 180 people, EMI is an electrical, instrumentation and mechanical contractor for the power generation, power distribution, rail, process and major hazards industries across the UK.

EMI offers on site electrical and instrumentation installation, electrical and instrument workshop services as well as fabrication and mechanical services from its workshops near Gainsborough.

Dan Bingham, Engineering Director for EMI said “The start of 2014 has demonstrated a successful year for company, with increasing orders from new and existing clients. We are investing in the business and hope to continue that success by building on the company’s strengthens”.

Paul Lawrence said “I am looking forward to the challenge and working with the rest of the EMI team. EMI’s portfolio of clients and track record is well regarded, having worked on the majority of the UK’s power stations over a 40 year period.” Mr Lawrence, 33, has more than 10 years’ experience across industry including various roles at Humber Chemical Focus, IChemE and Grimley Smith Associates.

Dan went on to say “EMI are growing looking to fill a number of other positions throughout the company, including a commercial manager’s role based at Drax as well as an electrical contracts manager and project engineer’s role based at our head office near Gainsborough”.
