With spooky storytelling, Zombie Walk, mini-disco, crafts and face painting Trinity Market will be the spookiest place in Hull on Friday 31 October.

The Hulloween Spooktacular @ Trinity Market, organised by HullBID and part funded by Hull City Council will be a fun-packed day of free performances and activities for families to enjoy, starting at 10am and finishing at 5pm.

Hannah Levy and Patrick Jr from YouTube channel Storytime with Hannah and Patrick will be joining the fun for two Halloween themed interactive spooky storytelling sessions at 10am and 12.30pm.

Hannah said “We’re so excited to be partnering with Hull BID to bring free family storytelling performances to Trinity Market this Halloween. Patrick Jr and I will be sharing a spooky picture book in a live, interactive performance, with the story brought to life on screen with music, lots of character voices, and plenty of Halloween fun for little pumpkins and their grown-ups. It’s the perfect way to start a day full of spooky celebrations in Hull!”

HullBID is also delighted to announce that students from East Riding College, who recently opened a new campus on Baker Street in the city centre, will be participating in the Zombie Walk. Congregating at Trinity Market from 1.30pm, Level 2 Performing Arts students will lead the terrifying troop in a procession from the market, up Whitefriargate to Princes Quay and back. The parade will have musical accompaniment thanks to an exciting backpack DJ set from Level 4 BA (Hons) Music Performance student Charlotte Parker, otherwise known as DJ Crimson Gemini.

From 10am – 3pm families will be able to enjoy some creepy craft activities with creative crafting organisation The Curious Owl, who are based at The Studio @12a on Manor Street; plus children can be transformed into their favourite spooky characters with free face painting. The day will culminate with a chance for little monsters to expend some energy at a mini-disco from 3pm until 5pm.

HullBID Executive Director Kathryn Shillito said “After delivering a summer of great free family events and activities with our Easter Trail, Dino Day, Picture Hull and Dino Detectives, we’re delighted to be able to bring another fantastic event to the city centre for families to enjoy.

“We’re grateful to Trinity Market for hosting the Spooktacular and Hull City Council for part funding. All the performances and activities are free of charge, making this event even more appealing in a challenging climate. We’ve already had a fantastic response with lots of families booking to come along and join in the fun!”

Councillor Rob Pritchard, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Leisure at Hull City Council said: "The council is committed to providing free, safe, and exciting events to our residents, and the Hulloween Spooktacular is a great example of that.

“By working closely with our partners, I know this will be a fantastic, family-friendly event without costing families a penny."

Alongside the Hulloween Spooktacular, HullBID is also running a free Pumpkin Trail for families to have fun exploring the city centre. With 15 different letters located in shop windows to decipher a creepy conundrum, all participants will receive a sweet treat for taking part which can be collected at the final stop on the trail at Debbie’s Sweet Cabin in Trinity Market. Trail sheets can be collected from participating businesses or the Visit Hull pod in Paragon Interchange and it will run from Monday 27 October until Saturday 1 November.
