Language is Everything has been listed in the prestigious Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2024.
It is the first time the Hull-based translation and interpreting company has entered the awards, which grades companies based on feedback from employees.
The company has been ranked in the top 100 in the ‘small organisation’ category following analysis of a survey completed anonymously by staff in which it scored ‘excellent’ in all areas. Highlights included a 98 per cent score for staff pride, 95 per cent for average happiness and confidence in management.
The full list of winning UK companies was revealed on May 12 in ten different categories.
Language is Everything CEO Carolyn Johnson MBE said that she was thrilled and that the award was a great way to measure how well the company was doing in nurturing its people. “We do our best to support everyone’s growth and wellbeing, and this high-profile, national accolade provides an excellent method of measuring how well we are doing and how our people really feel about working here.

Language is Everything has notched up a number of employer awards in recent years including being named in the top 100 best companies to work for and, and the 3rd best workplace for women by Great Place to Work.
It has resisted the growing trend towards automated and AI language solutions by choosing to focus on delivering the highest quality services in person, which Carolyn Johnson believes is key to continued growth and success and essential when helping people to communicate in other languages.
“We take advantage of new technology to improve what we do, but we are people focused and our services will always be powered by people,” she said.
Over the past year, the company has experienced growth through new clients and providing enhanced services to existing customers. It is highly active in the charitable and public sectors working with local authorities throughout the UK and charities including Macmillan, the Stroke Association, Turning Point, and the NSPCC.
The privately owned business works with around 400 loyal linguists speaking more than 120 languages and has been providing translation and interpreting services for three decades, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2022.
